Just a reminder — the deadline to register to vote in the June 23, 2020 Primary is May 26. This process may have to be done online due to the pandemic and businesses being closed. You will need to contact your local County Clerk Office.

As we had mentioned earlier, while you are #HealthyAtHome and before the upcoming election, would be a good time for you to exercise your advocacy skills and contact candidates in your area to share your views on disability related and other issues, particularly your state representatives and senator candidates. You can contact the Secretary of State Office (sos.ky.gov) or call 502/564-3490 to find a list of candidates in your area if needed. Some candidates have withdrawn but then re-filed so contact the Secretary of State Office and watch for yard signs locally. After doing so, we would like to ask that you let us know which candidates you have been in contact with a brief comment on their response. This information would be helpful for the election and the 2021 legislative session. Send your information to [email protected].

Remember when making your contact, your elected officials represent you, but they can’t do this effectively if they don’t know what you want. This is an opportunity for you to become a trusted resource for legislators and other elected officials on issues that affect your life. In addition to your personal story and interests, you could also talk about some important current statewide concerns which include the following:
