Late yesterday the Senate passed and the President signed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. Among other things, the bill includes a 6.2 percentage point FMAP bump for Medicaid, emergency paid sick and family leave, unfortunately it did not include caretaking for adults with disabilities or seniors whose programs have closed or whose workers are sick which we hope will get addressed in the next package The Senate take the lead on drafting the third package, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has indicated that Senate will stay in session until the third package passes, so now is the time to reach out to your Senators AND Representatives.
Please share our new action alert widely! This includes what we want to see in the third package, including specific asks around creating a grant program to support HCBS and the DSP workforce, permanent MFP and raising asset limits: It is very important that legislators hear from constituents so that we can get our issues including in the third COVID-19 package. We are also signing onto letters to ensure protections to small businesses are extended to non-profit organizations and raising those issues on the Hill. Thank you for all that you are doing, be well!
